Tryout Information
Come play for us... Blackbear United host tryouts each fall for all teams. The club will begin training in December and plays/trains throughout the indoor season (Dec-March), competes outdoors in the SoccerMaine league in the spring (April-June), competes in the State Cup (May - June), and attends two outdoor tournaments in the summer (Memorial Day and Father's Day Weekend). After the tryouts listed below, Blackbear United will select which teams to offer and assign the coaching staff. Players should tryout for their respective age groups. In the event that Blackbear United decides not to field a team, players may be asked to move up an age group. The Blackbear staff will move players only if it is in the best interest of the player and club. Players wishing to tryout for an older team should attend BOTH their age group and the one above. The $25 tryout fee covers both age groups. Players are encouraged to attend all three tryout dates, but should plan on making at least 2 out of 3 of the tryouts. There will be situations where players can only attend one tryout due to scheduling conflicts. If this is the case, pre-register and then send an email to tryouts@blackbearunited.com letting us know.
Blackbear United does offer financial assistance in the way of scholarships. One scholarship per team is awarded by the Board of Directors at their December and January meetings. The scholarship can be divided amongst a few players or awarded to one player based on requests. All scholarship awards are the final payments so players awarded a partial scholarship are expected to pay any upfront fees. To submit a scholarship request - 
New this year - Blackbear United will accept credit card payments including American Express, Discover, Mastercard and Visa for tryout fees, full payment or monthly payments including spirit wear. We are excited to offer this payment option. Their will be an incentive announced to players selected for families who pay their balance up front.

Sunday, November 4th at Hermon Elementary School
12:00pm - 1:15pm: U10, U11, U12 Boys and Girls
1:30pm - 2:45pm: U13, U14, U15 Boys and Girls
3:00pm - 4:15pm: U16, U17, U18 Boys and Girls
Based on the first tryout, Blackbear United will offer the following teams (players that fall into an age group that will not be offered need to tryout for the age group above where listed):
Boys: U10, U11, U12, U13, U15, U16, U18
Girls: U10, U11, U12, U13, U14, U16, U18
Sunday, November 11th at Hermon Elementary School

U13 Boys and U15 (Boys who are U14 age group should tryout for U15 team)

U16 Boys and U18 Boys (Boys who are U17 age group should tryout for U18 team)
U16 Girls and U18 Girls (Girls who are U15 age group should tryout for U16 team, U17 age group tryout for U18 team)
Final Tryout Has Moved to the Mahaney Dome for Sunday, November 18th
Please make sure that players DO NOT have gatorade in the dome, only water.

12:00pm - 1:15pm: U10 Boys, U11 Boys, U10/11/12 Girls, U12 Boys
1:30pm - 2:45pm: U13 Boys, U15 Boys, U13 Girls, U14 Girls

4:30pm - 5:45pm: U18 Girls, U17/U18 Boys
Selection Process
Coaches will notfiy all players via email within two weeks of tryouts. Players selected will be asked to confirm roster spot and read/sign the player/parent contract.
What Age Group Should I Tryout for? Each players must tryout for their appropriate Age Group. Players must be born between dates listed below to be eligible for specific age group.
2008 Tryout Age Groups
U10: 8-1-97 to 7-31-98
U11: 8-1-96 to 7-31-97
U12: 8-1-95 to 7-31-96
U13: 8-1-94 to 7-31-95
U14: 8-1-93 to 7-31-94
U15: 8-1-92 to 7-31-93
U16: 8-1-91 to 7-31-92
U17: 8-1-90 to 7-31-91
U18: 8-1-89 to 7-31-90
U19: 8-1-88 to 7-31-89
What to Bring: There is a $25 tryout fee made payable to Blackbear United FC and new this year, online credit card payments will be accepted. At tryouts, please bring a copy of birth certificate (new players only); and a current 1x1 passport size photo. Players that are selected will be asked to complete an online registration form. Returning players will just need to update their information. Registration begins 30 minutes prior to tryout time. Tryout fee covers all tryouts for that season.
