Tryout Information
Come play for us... Blackbear United host tryouts each fall for all teams. The club will begin training in December and plays/trains throughout the indoor season (Dec-March), competes outdoors in the SoccerMaine league in the spring (April-June), competes in the State Cup (May - June), and attends two outdoor tournaments in the summer (Memorial Day and Father's Day Weekend). Pre-register for tryouts!!

After the tryouts listed below, Blackbear United will select which teams to offer and assign the coaching staff. Players should tryout for their respective age groups. In the event that Blackbear United decides not to field a team, players may be asked to move up an age group. The Blackbear staff will move players only if it is in the best interest of the player and club. Players wishing to tryout for an older team should attend BOTH their age group and the one above. The $25 tryout fee covers both age groups. Players are encouraged to attend all tryout dates, but should plan on making at least one of the tryouts. There will be situations where players can only attend one tryout due to scheduling conflicts. If this is the case, pre-register and then send an email to tryouts@blackbearunited.com letting us know so we can forward the information to the respective coach.
Blackbear United does offer financial assistance in the way of scholarships. One scholarship per team is awarded. The scholarship can be divided amongst a few players or awarded to one player based on requests. All scholarship awards are the final payments so players awarded a partial scholarship are expected to pay any upfront fees and actively participate in fundraisers. Players ages 14 - 18 are asked to work their scholarship off (at $10 per hour). To submit a scholarship request - 
Online Payments Accepted - Blackbear United will accept credit card payments including Paypal, American Express, Discover, Mastercard and Visa for tryout fees, full payment or monthly payments including spirit wear. We are excited to offer this payment option. Families who pay their balance up front receive an "early bird" discount.

**Blackbear United offers two U12 Boys teams. Once coached by MJ Ball and one coach by Joe Kacer. Coach Ball will hold additional tryout since his team is in the fall travel semi-finals and finals on Sunday, November 8th in Cumberland. **Important Note - The U16 Girls team will be attending the AFC Collegiate Showcase in Cheshire, CT and the U14 Girls team will be attending the Seacoast Tournament in Epping, NH on November 14th and 15th. Players attending these tournaments need to be registered with SoccerMaine so that player passes can be created. Register Today and be sure to bring a 1x1 photo to tryouts.
Selection Process
Coaches will notfiy selected players via email within two weeks of tryout date. Players selected will be asked to confirm roster spot, send in the required non-refundable deposit, and read/sign the player/parent contract (emailed to player). Coaches may select players after the first tryout and/or use the fall season to evaluate players who have attended tryouts or registered for tryouts but unable to attend.
What Age Group Should I Tryout for? Each players must tryout for their appropriate age group. Players must be born between dates listed below to be eligible for specific age group.
2009/10 Tryout Age Groups
U10: 8-1-99 to 7-31-00
U11: 8-1-98 to 7-31-99
U12: 8-1-97 to 7-31-98
U13: 8-1-96 to 7-31-97
U14: 8-1-95 to 7-31-96
U15: 8-1-94 to 7-31-95
U16: 8-1-93 to 7-31-94
U17: 8-1-92 to 7-31-93
U18: 8-1-91 to 7-31-92
What to Bring: There is a $25 tryout fee made payable to Blackbear United FC via check or online payment which covers all the tryout dates. The fee covers facility/field rental and goes toward our scholarship fund.
At tryouts, please bring:
A copy of birth certificate (new players only)
A current 1x1 passport size photo
A Soccer Ball
Water
All players must wear shin guards at tryouts
Players that are selected will be asked to complete an online registration form. Returning players will just need to update their information. Registration begins 30 minutes prior to tryout time. Tryout fee covers all tryouts for that season.
PAYMENT
Blackbear United accepts checks and now accepts credit cards. Checks should be made payable to Blackbear United and turned in at tryouts. Checks can also be mailed to:
