The Premier program at Blackbear United runs from age U13 through U18 and is dedicated to the development of soccer players to allow them to play at the highest level possible in a positive learning environment. Because of that goal, Blackbear United must maintain standards that enable the club, coaches, and players to participate at the highest level of youth soccer. Participating at this level of competition requires ability, commitment and behavior that go far beyond that of a recreational, travel or even school focus.

Athletes as Role Models

All athletes are expected, as members of the Blackbear United Football Club, to be positive role models on and off the field.

Our expectations of our players include the following:

Winter (Indoors – December - March)

1. Consistently participate in the training sessions, matches and meetings. Blackbear United understands and expects that our players WILL participate in other sports and school activities. It is our expectation that you make an effort to attend weekly training and weekly games as much as possible. We encourage participation in other sports and activities, and just ask that the coaching staff/team administrator be made aware of any training sessions that cannot be attended.

Spring / Summer (Outdoor – April – June)

2. Make soccer your sport of priority as much as possible during our primary season and notify coaching staff/team administrator as far in advance as possible of any conflicts 3. Always do your best 4. Stay physically and mentally fit 5. Show appropriate behavior and language at all times, exhibited by positive and cooperative attitudes and actions.

Our schedule will roughly follow this format:

1. December to March: Weekly indoor training sessions (typically Sundays), indoor tournaments, and/or indoor games.

2. Regular outdoor weekly training sessions beginning in April (1-2 training sessions per week).

3. League and “friendly” games (April – June).

4. State Cup tournament play (May - June)  for players in the U12-U19 age groups

5. Outdoor Tournaments (New England)

Player Selection for Tournament Play

16-18 players are selected for each tournament. Players are selected based on availability, commitment, as well as performance in winter pool training, indoor league games, indoor tournaments and friendlies. Tournament fees are separate from training fees. Players will be selected from training pool for tournament play and will divide the tournament fees by the amount of players selected for that tournament. Ex. Needham Tournament - $65 per player if 18 players are selected. **There is no guarantee that your son/daughter will attend a tournament. Tournament selection is up to coaching staff and based on team needs and evaluation from training, games and availability.

Drug and Alcohol Policy

Use or possession of any alcohol or tobacco product, or any illegal substance, at any Club sponsored function by any Blackbear United Football Club player will result in immediate removal from the Blackbear United Football Club for the duration of the playing season upon review of the Board and with forfeiture of all fees.
