Fields 4 Kids Capital Campaign
Blackbear United campaign has a new name! - As plans for the fundraising drive continues to grow and take shape, a new campaign name has been selected to directly reflect the purpose of the project: Fields 4 Kids - The Campaign for a Four-Field Athletic Complex in Eastern Maine.
Fields 4 Kids to be broad-based campaign - While the new complex will serve as the new home of the Blackbear United Football Club, the fields will also be available for rent to athletic teams in the region. All-weather turf fields extend the training and playing season in our region to ten months. This will benefit numerous athletic teams – soccer, field hockey, football, pre-season baseball and softball, and may help to establish lacrosse teams in the region.
This project is an outstanding opportunity to expand our region’s recreational assets, and the campaign message will reflect that this is a project for many sports, including soccer.

$116,000 in cash and pledges raised to date - We are making progress with the campaign to fund a new outdoor, four-field athletic complex to serve youth and adults in our region. The complex will feature two FieldTurf fields and two natural grass fields on Outer Hammond Road behind the Sports Arena in Hermon, Maine. The main FieldTurf field will also be lighted. The goal is to begin construction in the summer of 2009 with the generous support of the Maine National Guard's 133rd Engineering Battallion.
